A unified Action Center experience was introduced with Windows 10 where the Action Center was the home for all your notifications on your PC, Tablet or Phone . It has a bunch of handy quick actions as well one of which was Note . By default, when this button is tapped, OneNote is opened to take notes quickly . But there is more to it! We can set the button as a shortcut URL for any websites we frequently visit or care about or other note taking apps that we prefer .

WARNING : This process of registry editing is risky . Hence we recommend you to do it at your own risk or take a full registry backup before proceeding .

  1. Press WinKey + R to open Run and type regedit inside it and hit Ok .
  2. Navigate to the following path : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ActionCenter\Quick Actions\All\SystemSettings_Launcher_QuickNote
  3. Right click on the Uri string and click on Modify .
  4. Set the value from onenote-cmd://quicknote?onOpen=typing) to ms-todo: if Microsoft To Do is installed and is intended to be used a the default app .
  5. Save it and restart your machine.

You can also use that button to navigate to your favorite locations both locally and on the Internet, to do that just enter the URL you want to access while modifying on Step 4 and voila! that just works!
