Microsoft Intune

Last night we reported the official reveal of Android Oreo which will be the newest version of Android. Microsoft has now announced that Microsoft Intune has day 0 support for Android O. They have been testing their MDM and MAM scenarios with the available Android O preview builds since the day the developer preview bits first became available.

With this update when users upgrade to Android O or get new devices with Android O, they can easily use Intune without any issues. The only thing needed is to update to the latest version of the Company Portal.

With the Android O update, Google has made some changes to their OS to improve security.  Previously, users need to enable Installation from Unknown Sources in order to install line-of-business APKs. It used to be a device-wide setting. With this update, each individual app has its own “Install unknown apps” permission. This is available in the below path.

Settings > Apps & notifications > Special app access > Install unknown apps > Company Portal

End users should enable this permission for Company Portal to install line-of-business APKs. You can learn more about the new behavioral changes in Android O and Intune support Here.
