Google is now ready to officially launch its Home and Home Mini Voice Assistant Devices in India. Reportedly, this news was the part of communication by Redington India with its retail partners.

Since the support for Hindi rolled out couple of months back for Google Assistant. This news is happening one for the Indians waiting for its release.

Interesting thing to note here is, Amazon’s Alexa and its Echo Plus, Echo and Echo Dot devices have recently begun selling in the country too.

This clearly shows the cut-throat battle between voice assistants in a new market. Alexa provides the benefit of a substantial library of local skills at launch, but it still can’t understand or speak Hindi.

Here Google might be planning a great war strategy ahead. Local resident users of imported Google Home devices recently reported about the localization of the device.

As per reports, Home smart services is already under way and a lot of it has to do with language recognition.

Adding to it, Home devices in India received the recent Bluetooth Speaker pairing update as well as other new interesting options too in the Google Home app.

The Media Accounts menu now offers support for some major India music streaming services like Saavn and Gaana. The server-side roll-out appears to still be under way, since voice interaction with these services is currently unavailable.

A new English (India) Language option has also been spotted on some local units. If chose, it enables the Voice Match feature which is still missing with English (US). Evidently, this is a new Language Recognition Model.

Google came up with this new feature to better come with the local English dialects and be able to tell apart different family members and differentiate its responses and actions accordingly.

As per some reports, the recognition is still not as good as Google Assistant but is a huge thing for India users. This is also a big improvement over the default English (US), which sometimes even fail to pickup trigger words.

We can hope that the performance will improve even more till its launched. There is still no release date mentioned and not even the pricing.

Another huge thing for Indians is Google’s Wi-Fi mesh routers are coming this month.
