In 2013, WhatsApp introduced a feature that let you send Voice Notes in conversations. It was really handy because the user didn’t have to type long messages inconveniently, they could just hold the mic button and start talking. This is one of the most used features of WhatsApp since then. But now, WhatsApp is making it even better. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is internally experimenting a way to record voice messages without the need to hold the button.
As we can see in the leaked images, there is a new UI that would allow users to lock the button. While you hold the microphone button, you will have to swipe up the check on the lock button that will enable you to keep recording a message even when you lift your finger off the microphone button.
As per the latest reports, some of the limitations that this feature comes with are :
- It’s not possible to view a photo/video while you are recording a “locked” voice message. You have to use the 3D Touch action to view it (iPhone 6S and newer)
2. You cannot type a new message while you are recording a “locked” voice message. You have to end it to type a message.
3. While you are recording a “locked” voice message, you cannot turn to another chat. In some situations it is possible but the voice message will be deleted.
There are other limitations, but they look like bugs that will be fixed before the activation of the feature.
We expect this feature to be released on Windows phones, iPhones, and Android phones very soon.
