Recently Instagram has been experimenting with two-factor authentication for a while. This includes emailing unique codes to users and giving others the mobile phone SMS option. This extra layer of security has begun to roll out today to all users.
Users can check if two-factor authentication is available on their device by going into the app’s settings. An option for Two-Factor Authentication should appear under the Account menu. If activated, a user’s phone number can be customized from within the Edit Profile screen.
This authentication is a form of security that’s significantly stronger than a basic password as it requires a set of unique codes to be entered which is sent to a specific device before a login is allowed.
